Sorry Your Family Isn’t Cool
“I remember dreaming
Wishing, hoping, praying for this day
Now we sit and watch them
The little ones I love
So excited by the wait”
— Christmastime, by the Smashing Pumpkins
While many people who know me would accuse me of being an ice queen, a real life Wednesday Addams, socially autistic and a Debbie Downer, I have never, ever been a Scrooge. Christmas time makes my heart soar. The lights, the music, the cookies… and most importantly the family gatherings.
When I hear people complain that they don’t like Christmas, it is my firm belief the reason is that they do not like their family. They dread seeing them and/or spending time with them. To which, I say, sorry your family isn’t cool. Of course, we’ve no control over the family we’re born into. But you can choose your adult family. Without abandoning my blood family, I have a pretty awesome net of extended friend family.
Furthermore, I enjoy giving gifts more than getting them, even though I am super broke right now. I get more out of giving.
I am thankful, too, for my little following. Readers and fans, whether real life acquaintances or strangers, I appreciate your readership, likes, comments and continued support. Happy Christmas to all! Or whatever you celebrate! May the darkest days of the Winter Solstice be filled with lights, sparkling with hope.
❤️Happy Christmas Cousin!
