A Lazy Summer Poem

It was summer that I always lived for
those carefree days and nights
It was perfection
The lazy mornings
Hot days
Not to be idle in the sand
But moving in the water
Dragging fingers through the sand
Sensory delight of the universe

Music notes dance to the beat of the piping plovers feet
The smell of skin slightly burnt and salty
Lick it for energy, for tonight you will sleep
And dreams of waves…
you’re either fighting or surfing
depending on your state of mind

my state of mind says… take me back
